A pink and purple sunset behind Eiffel Tower

Building rooftops on the Left Bank and the Eiffel Tower at sundown, seen from quai François Mitterrand. As built for the Universal Exposition of 1889, the tower was lit by hundreds of gas lamps at night and a beacon projected beams of red, white and blue light; two searchlights mounted on a circular rail illuminated various buildings of the exposition.
